Being born in Germany was very helpful for me to realize that this world is not my real home. As the news of the horrible activities of the people in the second world war came upon my young consciousness, I was totally shocked. Even more when I realized that many atrocities were committed by people as close to me as within my own family. Later when I realized the European style of Colonialism and the general attitude of racism and treating people on the basis of prejudice, I felt no inclination to be called German or European. But how could I go beyond that? Germans have clean gardens, like to take care of a beautiful home, read lots of books, but their efficiency does not stop them from being egotistic and ruthless to favor their own purpose. Many people around the world admire Germans. I was not among them. I want to go to a world where people love each other. Science and philosophy did not appeal to me since they had so far only produced wars. But the German passport was something I am grateful to have. Traveling in this world to visit my dear friends everywhere would have been very painful with a Colombian or an Indian passport. I learned in Germany that this advanced world is not advanced at all. The intentions of Germans or any other nationality are motivated by their false ego and selfish desires. This is natural for a conditioned soul. We all search for any way possible to excuse our mind with reasons to "prove" our own superiority over others. We use any weakness in the others to take advantage. But a pure loving soul, the only one I would take as an authority, fights that tendency or has already transcended it and tries to be equal to all.
To overcome the false identification with this body was made very easy for me. By my spiritual master grace I fell deeply in love with so many souls in so many bodies in so many countries of the world. To favor one over the other is unacceptable to me. Love all people and serve with utmost care those who come into your close surrounding. Since I travel a lot, I can exercise this all the time and it has worked wonders. I feel at home everywhere, where I am in the company of the devotees of Lord Krishna.
